Catullus Elegy 5 English translation

Let us live, my Lesbia, and love
And all the rumors of stern old men
Let us value at a mere penny.
Suns may set and raise again,
For us when the short light has once set,
Never - ending night remains to be sleep.
Give me a thousand kisses, then a hundred,
Then another thousand, then a second hundred,
Then yet another thousand, then a hundred.
Then, when we have made many thousands,
We will confuse our counting so that we may not know the number,
and no one malicious may become jealous
When he knows that kisses are so many.
